My breakfast of champions.

Best breakfast ever?

Cold pineapple and green pepper pizza with thick crust.

I have been dreaming of it all night.

I woke up at 6am drooling for it. Literally...wet pillow.

I get to the kitchen, and I see it...on the counter...in the box it came in last night.

COME ON!

HUSBAND! The deal was, I get the boys to bed, you clean up dinner, aka put my pizza in a sealed baggie in the fridge so I can devour it while I sit on the kitchen counter, drinking out of the milk jug, before anyone else gets up the next morning.

I wish I lived in his alternate universe, where things like milk, lunch meat and sour cream don't need to be refrigerated, chips and bread can sit open for days.

And, I am no snob, I've eaten my fair share of pizza out of the box the next day. I can recall many a morning in college, stumbling out of bed in a foriegn pair of boxer shorts, crashing on the couch to watch my stories and diving into a questionable box of pizza. I didn't see it so much as old, but rather aged...like the dusty bottles of Strawberry Boone's Farm I stole from my cousin each time I went home.

But, the thing is...I am growing a person! A person with dietary needs that don't include listeria or samonella. Needy, I know, but never the less, I am now without my morning cold pizza breakfast, and now I have to eat something lame like cereal, or toast, or 2 day old spaghetti.

And yes, about that person I am growing (you folks are amazing btw, the comments made me totally tear up!)...turns out, yes, it is a girl.

A girl.

Girl.

Pink.

Nail polish.

Barbies.

Cabbage Patch Dolls.

The Jonas Brothers.

Holy fuck!

So stinkin' exciting! Had no idea my womb was even vagina friendly, but my ultra sound (sweet baby Jesus be correct) says otherwise.

The amount of pink, purple, frilly and non weiner friendly stuff I have already purchased?

Ridiculous.

So, did you eat the pizza? Did you? LOL.

Baby girls are so sweet.

I really hope you ate the pizza!!! The happiest for me when I had my first girl was having a FULL load of pink!!! I was ecstatic, so girly and frilly! How fun!

I hate it when people eat MY leftovers. I have learned to hide them in the refrigerator away from hubby and kids. Selfish...yeah, but I pushed two kids out my vay-jay jay...so I'm entitled.
I'm so happy for you...and laughing...'cause girls are like riding the worst roller coaster you've ever been on 24/7.
Nonetheless, CONGRATS!!!!!

My husband, who is a chef, if the WORST when it comes to putting stuff away. He might throw the left over pasta in a tupperware bowl - but he won't cover it, so it's all hard and crusty the next day. Loser.

Tee-Hee! Girl stuff! No matter how much you try to convince yourself that it's fun to shop for boys? It's nothin compared to all the fun girl stuff out there!

You pregnant people and cravings! Congrats on a girlie, how awesome!

OHHHHHHHHH, Congratulations! You know... I'm really a dolt. I read the little poem and was like, huh? What is she talking about? I didn't even get it. I am seriously dumb.

But moving on - congrats. Little babies girls are just the sweetest. And shopping for them is even better. YAAAAAAAAY for girls!

So excited for you...you will have a little girl to spew piss and vinegar with!!!

You did the right thing by not eating that pizza. It would have given you gas anyway. And I will be your leopard print hook up/dealer/pimp. It's an addiction. Be prepared.

Lo said...

Yeah, probably good you didn't bite on that craving. But, what a great craving it was!

Uber congrats on the baby front... though let's hope the Jonas Brothers trend wears off before she's old enough to care :)

I would have kicked hubby's ass if he left the food out overnight that I was dreaming about eating in the morning. Although, I have to say that pizza sounded kinda gross! :) Good call on not eating it though. It's one thing to puke if you are pregnant but for food poisoning? No thanks! Awesome you are going to have a girl!

I have a similar problem whereby I— like the good husband that I am… put away the leftovers but wonder why they never get eaten. I wish I could somehow make the leftovers jump out of the fridge at my wife so she notices them.

As a mom of two girls (and one boy), of all the things you listed I can mainly relate to the holy fuck part.

Pineapple on PIZZA? That is, frankly, a sin that is unforgivable no matter how many "Hail Mary's" you say.

Now you know.

Go and sin no more. (A judge actually said that to me once. Want the details? NO WAY.) hee hee

We never put leftover pizza in the fridge. I ate counter pizza through my whole pregnancy (well, I did until pizza was taken away from me, anyway), and mine came out completely bacteria free.

LuckyMe said...

Oh my gosh. I have never hesitated over food that sat out too long, especially if I was craving it. One of these days my luck will run out.
A girl baby? What's that?

Annje said...

I say eat the pizza anyway--no eggs or feta right? SAFE!! Plus it's winter--how warm can the pizza get over night.

I have the same frustration with my husband--really? you didn't see that you left the milk out?

Congrats on the girl-- mine is fun, but not for all the frilly reasons one might think.

Congrats on having a girl. My first is a girl and lots of fun. Daddy's beautiful girl. I am in for soo much trouble.

u MUST show us pics of the purchases!!

...and i still would have totally eaten the pizza. ok, maybe not the whole thing, but at least the tip.

the tip never counts. and i may not be talking about pizza anymore.

Ohhh Hubby...! How could You! That is waaaay worse than bad toilet-seat-manners or pretty much anything else when you're pregnant... I mean, you can't possibly man-understand that the CRAVING for cold pineapple and green pepper pizza will stalk your woman in her every wakingandsleepingmoment until it is satisfied. So, um, guess what's for dinner again tonight?!?!?
PS, you forgot Princess-Super-Cutie-Dress-up-and-Halloween-Costumes that she can wear while playing with her Barbies and showing off her new pink-glitter nail polish and her just-like-me Cabbage Patch and American Girl Dolls to her neighborhood friends, making them sick with envy, and thereby cementing her position as the coolest girl in HS before she enters Kindergarten...

I am really needing some pineapple and green pepper pizza now...

And as for the buying of girly stuff, seriously, the problem NEVER goes away. My daughter is 2 1/2 and I still have to keep myself from buying EVERY cute outfit and toddler chic pair of shoes I come across. I imagine when she is 15, I will still be going on shopping sprees for her! (which, by that time, I am sure she will love, unless I become tragically unfashionable and lame...God, I hope not!)

Heather said...

Hey, never too early to jack up her lil imune system, rite? Joking - fetuses are no laughing matter. Yay, a bebneh chick!

I ALWAYS leave the sour cream out.. a part of me dies every time I toss a near full container out.

Swirl Girl said...

I say this from experience....

...sausage and mushroon pizza is much better the next day especially at room temperature.

Allison said...

Lamb probably got pregnant just by the tip.

BTW, do you think the doctor would OK one glass of Boones the same way the OK one glass of red wine?

Spryte said...

And he didn't go get you new pizza for breakfast?!!??? *sigh*

I probably would have eaten it anyway!

HeyJoe said...

"Non-wiener friendly?" Sounds dangerous.

And in the future, heat up that pizza in a frying pan (unless you prefer it cold). It comes out perfect; better than an over and TONS better than a microwave.

Joe's little pizza time for your Friday.

Leftover pizza?! You're good...we made a large disappear in like 5 minutes flat last night! I WISH there was some left....ooh wait there's still some cheese stuck to the box....

One little thing he had to do and he didn't do it. Bad husband. Never deny a pregnant woman her needs...shouldn't he know by now!

So excited for you to get the girl you've dreamed of. But hopefully the Jonas Brothers will have faded away by the time your little girl is a tween.

Judy Haley said...

I'm hosting a little girl in my belly too. I'm excited about her being a girl - but a little afraid of the whole hannah montana/jonas brothers thing - or whatever tweenyboppers are popular when she gets a to that swoony age.

in the meantime - i've got the same pizza problem. hubby just doesnt get that sausage left out on the counter overnight is not the best thing to feed a fetus

ParentingPink said...

I'm all about the "pink" and I believe you can never have too much of it...well, at least until they are teenagers and then God knows, we're all in trouble. But in the meantime, enjoy your pregnancy - and ahem, cold pepper pizza!

Oh, man! My husband did this just about 2 weeks ago with my leftover Cheesecake Factory Food AND cheescake. I was royally pissed. How hard is it to walk it in to the fridge and NOT sit it on the bar??!?!
Congrats on the estrogen. I have 2 girls and think its pretty fab!

Congrats!

Off to order a pizza now.

Oh GIRL! I have the best baby gift in mind, I'm bringing it to BlogHer and you are going to just DIE. No hints.

I have to ask too, you ate the pizza didn't you?

Mom Taxi Julie said...

Congrats on the girlie!! Prepare yourself for drama!!!

Jennifer said...

OK, would you believe me if I told you I STILL giggle about that cabbage patch post? Cause I do. At weird and random moments. My husband thinks I need professional help!

LiteralDan said...

Congratulations again on managing to grow a new vagina (we must all use that word as much as possible, to show support for BHJ).

As for the pizza, that sounds great except that the pizza was likely not made in Chicago (or, as a third-rate, extreme emergency backup, New York), and thus would probably taste just enough like a good pineapple/green pepper pizza to piss me off.

But putting that aside, I cannot believe you wouldn't eat it-- in addition to your other roles, you are a salmonella filter for this new babe, and there would be no threat. Instead, you've managed to threaten common decency and respect for the pizza gods by either throwing it out (don't even tell me if you did this) or giving it to someone else.

You let me down on this one, champ, but I'll just chalk it up to all those crazy extra hormones I don't understand.

Teri said...

Oh man I can relate to the disappointed about food thing. A couple of weeks ago, I was really late coming home from school. I couldn't wait to have the leftovers from dinner that my husband and the kids had - crab and shrimp casserole. My mouth was watering...until I got home and found that everyone loved it so much that they didn't to consider saving a single bite for me. Damn.

And HUGE congrats on the girl! That will be so much fun.

flickrlovr said...

YAY! Congrats on finally getting a girl! She's going to be coolest little girl on the block.

Joy said...

Oh girl eat that pizza already cold and all!!

Congrats on the wonderful girl news that is freaking fantastic. Girls are so much fun but let me warn you after having a boy first I was and still am a bit overwhelmed by her drama about every little thing from her shoes to her hair to wanting something to drink seriously DRAMA.

There is nothing like bonding over the Jonas Brothers with your daughter. And now the Twilght dudes.

Daughter: "I sent you an Edward video, Mom."
Me: "Thanks, honey..".

Sounds like someone owes you another pizza. :)

Brittany said...

Yay! I was keeping my fingers crossed for an estrogen filled womb for you. You and that girl are gonna have so much fun. Hell, I wish I were your daughter..
any names picked out yet?

...and if it weren't for the baby, I would say pick off the green peppers and eat it anyway....

Walking With Scissors said...

A girl! Congratulations! I went through my entire second pregnancy convincing myself that I was having another boy, just so I wouldn't get my hopes up. I had a girl. Yay! (Disclaimer: I love my boy and my girl equally, and that's the truth!)

Now, would it be weird to say that I love you just for the fact that you put up a link to you and your Cabbage Patch Kid? Because I love those dolls in a way that is really unnatural for a 32 year old woman. Wait. That came out wrong. I don't love them love them. That's creepy. I just have a few *cough* fifteen *cough* that I keep on a shelf in the basement. Apparently, my childhood revolved around them. And now, so do my early thirties. My daughter doesn't even like them. *sigh*

Okay, I'm just going to stop talking now.

Vanessa said...

Love pineapple and green pepper pizza! Perhaps if you make the hubby get you a new one in the morning, he won't forget next time? Who am I kidding, it's just the way they are wired. Hopefully pizza comes your way again soon.
