Surf and Turf

Or, as I like to call it, things you make for your husband when you do something bad, like juice his laptop...or break his electric razor shaving your legs even though he asked you to stop doing that six months ago, but you still do it in secret when he isn't home. Enter, surf and turf. Perfect for when you are not so sorry you have to drop everything and have sex him, rather, just sorry enough to feel the need to bribe him with red meat and shellfish.

Alone, steak and shrimp are good. But, together, ahh, together they emit some sort of secret fish and meaty serotonin, making men giddy, agreeable, and open to just spooning for the rest of the night without trying to cop a feel or dry hump your leg.

The Steak: Alas, nothing special, just my usual rub of coarse gray salt, cracked black pepper, and chili powder on room temperature steaks about 20 minutes before grilling.

The Shrimp: I did a rough overnight marinade on a pound of raw butterflied shrimp, consisting of some minced ginger, minced garlic, and a can of sliced pineapple along with all the juice. Before grilling, I skewered the shrimp on bamboo skewers that had been soaking in water for about half an hour, I tossed the pineapple in the garbage along with the rest of the marinade.

**Grilled pineapple is a great addition, but make sure to use new, and not what has been sitting with the raw shrimp overnight.

We eat our meat medium/medium rare, so I grilled the steaks for 3 minutes on each side, and tossed the shrimp skewers on with two minutes to go on the steaks. They cook very quick, so pull them off as soon as they are pink, and they won't get rubbery.
For the full effect, serve with sauteed mushrooms, beer, a pushup bra and something short.

oh my gosh. i am dying for some surf and turf! i can do a pretty mean steak, but shrimp are bottom feeders so they aren't so available here in turkey. when i do find them they are so expensive i can't bear to purchase them! i miss seafood the most. they have fish...fresh, interesting fish here...but alas...no crab, scallops, shrimp, clams, lobster, or the like. sigh. i guess i'll go eat my greasy, overcooked lamb kebap that i had leftover from last night.

I'm not your husband, but I'd forgive you for sure.

I have TOTALLY done the electric razor thing. Twice actaully. Sometimes you just need a quick buzz so you can go outside in shorts withour sporting the gorillas in the mist look, but there is no time for a shower. Jesus, they just dont get it, do they?

I had lunch but am still hungry. That steak and shrimp look so tasty. We have shrimp in the fridge, but where's the beef? I guess I could pull some out of the freezer. Wonderful blog!

Haha if he doesn't want you using his razor, then why is it in the bathroom, huh?

Surf and turf. Man, men are so easy.
