Swoon.

I have started the daunting project of putting together our wedding album...a mere four years after we said I do. What can I say, I have been a busy girl.

It's fun looking back on the pictures, the videos, the corny mementos from our Vegas honeymoon. I am adamant in creating an album that all but vomits sentiment and romance.

My husband and I are high school sweethearts. I met him when he got into a minor car accident in front of my house. I brought him a glass of water, and he showed up at my house every day after that for an entire summer.

As I go through the boxed marked "us," trying to find pieces of memories to put into our book, I am quickly reminded how romantic I am. Love letters, notes jotted down in sappy cards, I mean, seriosuly, I was a kick ass fucking girlfriend. Noticeably absent? Um, pretty much anything written to me!

He is the strong silent type. The grounded, sensible one. I am the hopeless romantic, my feet never touching the ground.

But, even still...no love notes? Just some crummy Made in China plush Monkey from the Fair, and a couple of decomposed roses I felt the need to hang onto. Import monkey. Cute. Red rose. Sweet. But where is the romance? The spontaneity? The passion?

And, then I found something. Stuffed in one of his old photo albums were two emails we had exchanged after a few months of hanging out (sorry Shakespeare, the written word is lost on the youth today). Towards the end of that fateful summer, my husband went with is parents to visit his brother in Colorado, and before he left, he taught me how to use my dad's old Apple so we could keep in touch.

"Hey, I hope you are having fun in Colorado, I must admit, I miss having you turn up at my door every morning. You have spoiled me. Whenever I hear the song The Freshman by the Verve Pipe, I get sad and miss you more. Mike and Jordan wanted me to go to a movie with them, but I was like, as if! I told them to wait until you get home, then we can double date.

Hurry home!
Brittany"

"Hi. Colorado is very cool, lots of mountains. We have gone skiing pretty much every day. I miss seeing you too! I will come right over as soon as I get home, and I have a small gift for you my mom helped me pick out. I'll call you when I get home.

P.S. Are we boyfriend and girlfriend now? If so, that is sweet. If not, I feel like a jackass."

And, that, my friends, is poetry.

Our husbands have so much in common...I don't get why they aren't BFFs by now. The only major difference is that my hubby's nerdy BF/GF question happened during an awkward phone call, not in an awkward e-mail.

Hi, I'm a stalker first time commentator.

I'm not the overly romantic type and my hubs is a touchy feely guy but, for our 5th anniversary, I asked him to write me something telling me what our time together means to him. This interfered with his computer game playing so I said, okay, find a song that is ALREADY written that makes you think of me. Nope. Too much trouble.

We bought another dog instead.

Emily...I know...maybe it's because they don't realize they are clones because they refuse to speak in public, and by public, I mean where there are more than 2 people present.

Bee...Oh I just LOVE when people make the stalker/commenter transition!!!! And what better way to express one's love and devotion than with a dog:) Hey, any fellow video game widow is a friend of mine! Welcome!

My husband and I have been apart quite a bit--once for basic training then again for TDY in Saudi Arabia--so I have lots of mushy letters to embarrass him with!

Awwwwwwwww

That was so worth it at the end with that adorable wedding picture! I wanna see more!!! :)

I still have yet to do my wedding reception post - I swear I am getting it done next week! :)

Don't worry about your hubz, people hate Roberto and I sometimes, because we are both hopeless romantics! The grass is always greener...

I have been reading your blog for a bit now. I must say it keeps me laughing all the time. My husband is not a romantic by far. He wrote me a poem once titled my tomato :)

Jenn...I am so jealous of you two cuties! And I am dying to see more pictures. DYING!

Nicole...Thanks for posting! I love comments, keep them coming! Yay for comments! And I am honestly dying to know what a love poem entitled tomato would entail...be thankful that it was written before our current "tomatoes of death" predicament we are facing at the moment:)
